Education
Hijacked helped me reflect upon how the founders of the United States drew upon core values to establish a durable framework for the Nation’s growth!
The book thoughtfully examines the political and economic challenges we face today and suggests that many of these difficulties stem from our departure as a country away from the core values that once helped guide our national decision making.
Hijacked should be required reading for students to understand how foundational principles continue to shape America’s political and economic life.
This book brings out a number of points mentioned by Ray Dalio in The Changing World Order
Lack of Strong Leadership across the board…which requires strong compromise instead of polarity.
Invention and creativity require understanding and education. We are not preparing our youth for leadership.
Too many of our youth (our seed corn for the future) are unprepared and in massive debt.
The solution comes down to education as the key determinant as to the survival of a civilization. it is key to resource allocation, and it is key to income growth and more efficient markets. It is also key to changing attitudes and the reinforcement of cultural values that made America the envy of the world.
I found this book valuable because it does not just focus on today’s headlines or political arguments. IT steps back and loos at the cultural, educational, historical, and civic trends that have shaped where we are as a country. Whether you agree with every point or not does not matter: HIJACKED challenges the reader to think critically about the many difficult questions of every day, and to think for themselves as to what makes ‘common sense’ of these very difficult questions. As readers we are asked to consider what role each of us can play in building a healthier and more constructive future.
This book is a must read for any citizen regardless of their political views. Every high school and college student shoudl be introduced to this very thought provoking book…..today people do not think, at least not critically. Everyone should question and challenge our institutions/our elected officials/our polling system/our education system….all of it. If we don[t we could easily lose our liberty. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and read it twice. Readers will be left with the fact that the authors truly love our country and are Patriots that want it to survive.
“hijacked: our republic’ convincingly argues that America is at a critical crossroads, facing political dysfunction, educational decay, eroded values, and a troubling loss of civil discourse. …6 foundational pillars: Critical Thinking Education, Religions/Faith/Values, (our understanding of) History, Political Systems and Economic Systems have all been undermined from within. This book is not a partisan diatribe but rather a call for reflection and action, raising important questions as to core truths abandoned, why Critical Thinking is NOT being taught, and how to restore integrity and common sense—-ultimately offering a roadmap for Americans to restore our Republic.
This book is a thorough expose of techniques and strategies to deprive our youth of what I might term Western education and practical yet eternal thoughts.
Religion & Values
There are ‘Eternal Truths’ that through adherence to them (even with our struggles and successes) have bult a great and lasting democratic republic: The United States of America.
Peter and Kevin explain through the lens of history how we as a nation are compromising the fundamental tools of our lasting society. Our desire to pursue the common good has been eroded by relative truth and self-absorption.
This prescient book by Peter and Kevin directs us to return to those values we hold dear for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

while i appreciate the sensitivity to emphasis upon Judeo Christian thought, i agree completely that eternal truths regardless of origin are a basis for western thought.

History is only as valuable as it is accurate as to what actually happened. This book has made a point of critically examining what many say “is truth” and explaining that such statements require a critical approach.

factual and insightful description of economic systems it is amazing how they can be hijacked over time to suit and fit the description people want: Democratic socialism…national socialism..etc…….

We listened to the words and it truly represents the story behind the story and the authors behind it all.
The momentum continues and this book and the journey brings such joy
